We’re looking an Controller who will support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and be responsible for complex data analysis, verifying financial information, producing financial reports, taking primary ownership of general accounting activities, contributing to process improvements, and assisting with system implementations. This individual will be working in a fast-paced environment and will have their hands in many aspects of the day-to-day Accounting and Finance Operations of the business.

Your responsibilities as the Controller will include:
  • Perform monthly close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct quick and insightful data analysis to research variances, investigate margin and expense fluctuations, and support decision making process.
  • Ensure financial statements are in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable balances and open purchase orders to track to cash projections.
  • Process bi-monthly payroll and related journal entries.
  • Prepare and analyze inventory reports and monitor E&O reserves.
  • Analyze and interpret manufacturing costs and absorption of labor and overhead.
  • Build sophisticated spreadsheets, financial models and excel charts.
  • Assist with external audits and preparation of tax related documentation.
  • Assist CFO with PowerPoint board presentations.
  • Key contributor in continuous improvement projects. Responsible for actively identifying areas of improvement and recommending action plans.
  • Assist with monitoring internal controls, recommending, and implementing improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data and provide business support.
  • Support and serve as backup to team members for processing accounts receivable, accounts payable and other accounting processes as needed.
  • Apply ivWatch company and financial policies, practices, and internal controls.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, security, data integrity, and necessary backups associated with company financial and non-financial data.

To be a successful candidate, we look for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience; Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Must possess extremely strong Excel skills with advanced formula knowledge. 
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems.
  • Prior experience with ADP Payroll System.
  • Possess the ability to work independently on assigned duties with very limited supervision.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

This is an on-site position in Newport News, VA.
